As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Uttara University organized a day-long workshop on “How to Make Creative Questions” on 5 May 2017 Friday at IQAC Seminar Hall of School of Business. Fifty one faculty members from 13 colleges and institutes attended the workshop. The colleges and institutes are: Nowab Habibullah Model School & College, Uttara High School & College, Konabari Degree College, Milestone College, Rajuk Uttara Model High School & College, Gazipur Cosmic College, Vaowal Mirzapur College, Vasha Shaheed Abdul Jabber Ansar VDP School & College, Metropolitan College, Gazipur, Uttara Girls High School & College, Fame English Institute, Liberal Science & Technology College, and Uttara University. The program was inaugurated by the Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha. The inaugural session was Chaired by Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean of School of Business. Mr. Kazi Mahiuddin, Registrar, Uttara University was the Special Guest in the inaugural session. The Director of IQAC of Uttara University Professor Dr. DNR Paul and the Resource Person, Prof. Dr Khademul Islam also spoke at the inaugural session of the workshop.
In the day-long workshop, the participants learned different aspects of the Creative Questions such as, Recall, Comprehension, Understanding and Application in detail through practical exercises. Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning Domains which include three domains of educational activities or learning such as Cognitive: mental skills (knowledge), Affective: growth in feelings or emotional areas (attitude or self or feeling) and Psychomotor: manual or physical skills (skills) were also discussed in detail in the workshop.
In the Certificate Awarding Session, Mr. Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest. This ceremony was chaired by Professor Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Uttara University. Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, Professor Taslima Begum, Former Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and Chairman of Department of Education of Uttara University, Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean of School of Business of Uttara University and Prof. Dr. Khademul Islam, Training Specialist of National Academy for Education Management (NAEM) of Bangladesh also spoke at the Closing Session of the workshop.
Mr. Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education said that the topics discussed in the workshop will help the teachers to better evaluate the student’s performance. He urged the participants to follow the principles discussed in teaching learning process.
Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Uttara University expressed his satisfaction for holding such a wonderful workshop and felt the need of arranging such workshop in each department of the university.
Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor thanked the speaker to discuss the issue of creative questions and the techniques to prepare such questions to practice in the classroom as well as in exam question paper. Such attempts will reduce burden of memorization of the topic details and at the same time encourage the students to go deep into the subject matter that will ultimately enrich the knowledge base of the students.
Mr. Kazi Mahiuddin, Registrar, Uttara University, said that education is for creating a knowledge society and creative question is a modern concept that may be a positive way to enhance the creative knowledge of the learners.
Prof. Dr Nazrul Islam, Dean of School of Business in his speech advised the participants to apply the knowledge gained from this workshop in teaching-learning process.
