Workshop on Good Governance, Financial and Office Management

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Uttara University organized a workshop on Good Governance, Financial and Office Management on 25 June 2016 at the Conference Room of Uttara University. Dr. Nomita Haldar ndc, PS-2 of Honorable Prime Minister, People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Dr Md. Mahmudul Hasan, MDS, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC) were the Keynote speakers in the workshop. Prof. Dr. M Azizur Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Uttara University graced the workshop as the Chief Guest. The program was presided over by Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro Vice Chancellor, Uttara University. The whole program was summarized by Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean, School of Business of Uttara University as Moderator.

In her keynote speech, Dr. Haldar mentioned that the Government is enthusiastic in implementing good governance but it is very difficult to ensure without the active participation of the people of the country.

Dr. Hasan mentioned that innovation is necessary to establish good governance in financial and office management and as such the support of the higher authority is much needed.

The chief guest in his speech praised the activities of IQAC and the UGC as its initiator.  The program Chair, Dr Lekha mentioned that Uttara University always follows the rules and regulations of Private University Act 2010 and operates without commercial mentality. The, Mr. Kazi Mahiuddin, Registrar, UU, Prof. A K M Mozammel Haque, Controller of Exams, UU and Mr Arif Imam, Director of Finance & Accounts, UU presented separate papers highlighting Administrative, Academic and Financial status of the University.

Mr. Kazi Mahiuddin mentioned that the university maintains fair and transparent selection process for recruiting academics and non-academic staff and their promotion to higher posts. He also mentioned that there is a number of high powered committee which work independently without any intervention from the top management regarding all policy decisions of the university.

Prof. A K M Mozammel Haque informed the house that the university maintains zero tolerance against unfair means in the exam halls and uses a software to publish results timely.

Mr Arif Imam mentioned that the financial decisions are made by a committee and accounting system of the university is fully automated. The students can pay their tuition and other fees on-line from several banks from anywhere of the country.

The Program was anchored by the Prof. Dr. D N R Paul, Director of IQAC, while a brief overview of Uttara University was presented by Mr. Kazi Tareq Ullah, Chairman, Department of Business Administration. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Fakir Tajul Islam, Additional Director, IQAC.
