Operational Features of the IQAC

Functions of IQAC, Uttara University (operational feature)

  • Designing the Policy and procedures for higher education
  • Reviewing these policy and procedures periodically for effectiveness
  • Conducting Self-assessment of  programs  and  educational  system  in  respect  of  accepted  quality assurance areas
  • Initiating capacity building programs for assistance to the universities for effective management
  • Taking Prompt, appropriate, and sensitive managerial action to redress problems, supported by adequate information;
  • Benchmarking and preparing comprehensive plan for further improvement; and
  • Monitoring and  evaluating  practices  and  processes  of different programs of Higher education through  audit, survey  and other instruments as deemed fit to ensure  generally  acceptable standards of quality
  • Promoting a process of continuous improvement

Currently nine departments have been selected for self assessment under the guidance of IQAC, UU. Departments’ are-

  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Law
  • Bangla
  • English
  • Education
  • Physical Education
  • Islamic Studies
  • Mathematics
  • Business Administration

In 2015, four departments, namely Dept. of Business Administration, Dept. of English, Dept. of Education and Dept. of Physical Education have started their self assessment activity and have been developing the quality culture in their higher education programs. By establishing IQAC, it will be possible to initiate systematic and organized activities for quality assurance at Uttara University which will lead to Quality Culture up to Global Quality standard with uniformity and conformity to international standards of QA practices.

 

IQAC Operational Committee

IQAC, Uttara University formed three committees for procurement of works and materials; and recruitment of personnel. The committees are:

  1. RFQ Evaluation Committee: The responsibility of this committee will be to evaluate the RFQs submitted by different firms or individuals for (a) renovation works including supply of necessary materials for the renovation work for IQAC office and its seminar room, (b) supply of materials (furniture, electric goods and other office supplies) for IQAC. The members of the committee are:

          Mohammad Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, Uttara University – Member

          Mr. Maksudul Hoque Rana, Deputy Registrar, Uttara University – Member

  1. Work and Material Receiving Committee: The responsibility of this committee will be to receive the works as materials in terms of both quantity and quality as per specifications in RFQs. Members are-

           Prof. Dr. Debi Narayan Rudra Paul, Director, IQAC, Uttara University – Chairman

            Mohammad Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, Uttara University – Member

            Mr. Mahmudul Haque, Executive Engineer, Uttara University – Member

  1. Personnel Recruitment Committee: The responsibility of this committee will be to evaluate the candidates applied for different positions in IQAC and to select the candidates suitable for the positions applied for as per specification and conditions of the advertisement. Personnel Recruitment Committee members are-
