An inception workshop on “Institutional Quality Assurance” was organized by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Uttara University on 16 November 2015 at the ‘IQAC Seminar Hall’ of the University. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Uttara University Professor Dr. M. Azizur Rahman chaired the program. The Head of Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed was the Chief Guest in the program. Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Quality Assurance Specialist, Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary; QA Specialist, Dr. M. Abul Kashem, were present as Special Guests in the program. Treasurer of Uttara University, Professor Mumtaz Begum, Advisor of UU, Professor Faez M. Serajul Hoque, Deans of different Schools, Chairpersons of different Departments, members of QAC Committee and members of SA Committees attended the workshop.
Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean of School of Business of Uttara University was the Discussant in the Technical Session of the program. At the end, the discussions were summed up by the discussant. In his speech, the Chief Guest mentioned that Quality assurance is a holistic concept that is to be assured at all levels of a university for its sustainable institutional learning and growth in the future. Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary and Dr. M. Abul Kashem, QA Specialist, gave the explanations of the important issues of Quality Assurance and Self-Assessment activities in the workshop. They also addressed the role and responsibility of IQAC and SACs in improving quality of teaching-learning and management support in attaining sustainable quality culture in the university. They also suggested to follow the Self assessment manual during the self assessment process.
Professor Dr. DNR Paul, Director of IQAC of Uttara University gave welcome speech while Mr. Fakir Tajul Islam, Additional Director, IQAC, UU concluded the workshop with the vote of thanks.
